A Ketogenic diet when done correctly, is a very simple and effective tool for fat loss and muscle gains.
1. Increased Testosterone
Keto, when done correctly, and by correctly I mean eating a large quantities of meat, restricting carbs to under 30 – 50g per day and making sure you get a decent serve of veggies every day, you’re going to be naturally boosting your testosterone levels, and will notice that you will start feeling more and more awesome as time goes on.
Cholesterol is a precursor for testosterone production and you should be eating a lot of cholesterol rich foods on Keto. When your body isn’t dealing with inflammation caused by the ignorant abuse of carbohydrates, you’ll notice that your blood work will improvefrom eating cholesterol rich foods (it’s the carbohydrates that cause the unhealthy levels), which is largely responsible for increasing your test levels.
High testosterone will result in you becoming:
- More aggressive
- More physically attractive
- More sexually aggressive and desirable
- More disciplined
- More awesome in all regards
If you do Keto correctly and your testosterone levels will shoot through the roof.
2. Mental Focus
When your brain is using ketones for fuel, you can literally feel the difference
If you have ever successfully applied Ketogenic dieting before, you probably would have noticed an improvement in your mental focus. That’s because your brain operates much more effectively on ketones rather than on glucose (carbs).
Without getting really scientific, when energy is produced from ketones (fat) there is minimal amount of waste in the cell mitochondria compared to energy production from glucose (carbs).
Because of this, the brain is able to run more efficiently as there is less waste to eliminate after the production of energy in the cells.
Also, the primary source of fuel for the brain while in Ketosis is Beta-Hydroxybutyrate, which is the brains preferred fuel source and is produced in higher quantities the longer you maintain a Ketogenic diet.
I can say from experience that Ketogenic dieting is a very powerful tool in my arsenal for mental focus. And given the choice between Ketosis and strong Nootropics like Modafinil, I would take Ketosis hands down.
Both myself and everyone who I know who has gone low carb, share the opinion that going back to a carb heavy diet would be almost impossible from a mental point of view.
3. Low Insulin = Fat Burning
Time to burn some fat.
Extended periods of low insulin levels allow for the oxidization of stored body fat, which is exactly what happens during Keto.
In Ketosis, your body is actually able to use stored body fat for energy rather than disregarding such an obvious source of energy like a beta-male disregards the fact that the girl he has been buying drinks for all night is only talking to him purely because she is getting sloshed for free and has no intentions of going anywhere near his crotch.
Long-winded metaphors aside, Keto will make you burn fat.
3. Consistent Energy Levels
As a result of low insulin levels, you are not going to experience the energy crash you will most likely experience after eating a sandwich or bowl of pasta at lunch time.
It’s pretty much smooth sailing all day. Obviously you will still get tired as you experience general fatigue, but you are not going to experience the spikes and crashes associated with constant variation in insulin every few hours.
4. Thinner Face
A high carbohydrate diet leads to increased inflammation and increased water retention.
One thing you will notice within the first few weeks of correct Ketogenic dieting is that your face will become thinner around your neck and cheeks. Your jawline will become more defined and your face will start looking healthier in general.
The inflammation from too much carbohydrates is starting to subside and you are not retaining nearly as much water as you would be eating high carb.
As a side note to this, if you are undertaking a Cyclical Ketogenic diet and you start your refeed day (period of high carbohydrate intake), you will notice your weight will probably shoot up by 3-4kgs for the day, you will also become thirsty as shit, and you may experience cramping. This is because as soon as you start eating carbs, you’re body will starts retaining a large amount of water.
Your weight does drop back to normal after around 24 hours after the reefed, after you’ll be pissing it all out like a waterfall in that time..
5. Reduced Risk of Cancer
Recent studies have shown that Ketogenic dieting can significantly reduce the risk of Cancer.
I’m no Doctor, but to me the results seem pretty fucking compelling.
The reason for this is because cancer cells can ONLY be fueled by glucose (carbohydrates). Ketogenic diets have been proven to significantly halt cancer cell growth and regression of said cells has even occurred in some cases for Cancer patients undertaking a Ketogenic diet.
Studies show that cancer cells can not use Ketones (fat) for fuel at all, and healthy cells just keep on cruising along running on Ketones. Meaning that cutting carbs and entering ketosis literally starves Cancer cells, and your regular cells will happily live on using fat for energy.
As I said, I’m no doctor, but it makes a lot of fucking sense if you’ve got half a brain.
But if the Doc simply said to stop eating carbs and start eating more fat the multi-billion dollar cancer industry would collapse. There is no way to make money from Ketogenic dieting as a cure for Cancer because you can’t put a patent on the words “no bread, more steak”.

Yeah Keto isn’t all fun and games, while there are some major benefits to the lifestyle, there are a few points you should take into account.
1. Carbs Are Fucking Everywhere
The above picture is the epitome of what life on a Ketogenic diet is like.
Everywhere you look you have the option of eating carbs and more carbs, shopping at the supermarket and eating out in the western world means that 99.5% of your choices are off limits. Finding a new keto-friendly food that tastes good is typically greeted with over-zealous feelings of hope and a general peace with the universe.
Eating out is tough for the first few weeks, as you’re Googling nutritional information for nearly every ingredient listed on the menu.
Fortunately it does get easier, after a month of two you get to the the point where you know what you should and shouldn’t be eating without really thinking about it, and you fall into habits of eating the right food.
But to start out it feels like the carbohydrate demon is testing your will at every meal.
2. Judgement/Confusion From Others
After a month of Keto, you’ll have more than likely explained the diet and how it works so many times that you’ll be able to do it in your sleep.
If you care about what your friends and family think and say about you then this might be tough to deal with, as it’s very likely they won’t understand what you’re doing and they will typically continue to tell you that what you’re doing is wrong.
Try not to get mad or impatient, I’ve found indifference to the opinions of others works best. They’ve been conditioned by society to accept the “low fat is healthy” dogma just as much and I used to be and you probably were too, it’s not a big deal if they don’t understand.
If people are genuinely interested in how Ketogenic dieting works, enlighten the shit out of them. However, most of the time people are just looking for a reason to tell you you’re wrong and they’re right. Identify these people and don’t waste your energy with trying to convince them otherwise.
You will learn to stop caring about opinions of others and fitting in so much, which in itself is fucking good for you.
You will learn to say no to peer pressure also.
You will most likely be patronized for not eating carbs. Whatever, the opinions of others are redundant when it comes to your health.
Fatties/weaklings will also try to instill their infinite knowledge on you as to the reasons why eating high fat is unhealthy. They will lecture you about cholesterol and your heart health. Be prepared for it, don’t meet it with a serious response if they’re talking through their ass.
I have been on a Cyclical Ketogenic Diet for the past 12 months. My diet consists of heavy cream, eggs, butter, high fat steaks and vegetables. I’m lean and vascular, and my blood work has improved since being on the diet (including my cholesterol levels).
Fat is good for your heart, ignorant abuse of carbohydrates is not.
3. “But What About Blood Acidosis?!”
Some people may be aware of a dangerous condition that type 1 diabetics risk running inducing called blood acidosis, which is a condition that occurs where Ketone bodies become too high your blood acidic to the point where it becomes toxic.
If you’re a type 1 diabetic this is a very serious problem. I have no experience with type 1 diabetics and Ketosis and I am not going to make recommendations.
However if you’re not a type 1 diabetic, dietary induced Ketosis will not cause blood acidosis. As you will either piss out excess ketones, or a small amount of insulin will be released to bring levels back to normal if your ketone levels become too high, but you’re going to have to eat a lot of fat for this to happen, so don’t be a glutton.
4. Blood Sucking Insects Love You
My cats had fleas not too long ago and I noticed very quickly that I was the only one to receive flea bites and find them crawling on me out of everybody in my household, everybody else barely noticed their existence.
I am the only one who eats Keto in my household, and I would be willing to bet that my diet and my high testosterone levels (as a result of my diet) would have a lot to do with that fact I am a magnet for blood sucking parasites.
If I sit outside on a warm summers night for 5 minutes mosquitoes will discriminantely feast on me until I go inside or decide to cover myself up with longer clothes.
Keto is definitely not the most convenient diet, especially in the initial stages. Once you have been maintained carb restriction for an extended period of time and know what you can and can’t eat, you get used to making it work if you’re eating out.
However, to start with you’re probably going to find yourself annoyed at the fact when you can’t have have a bowl of pasta when you’re at a restaurant with your friends and the lack of choice you have in front of you.
You may whine about making an effort to eat vegetables every day (and if you don’t you should be), and people will ridicule you for being such a fussy eater.
The good news is that the results are worth 10 times the amount of inconvenience you will experience, so stop the bitching and keep going.
6. Keto Looks Stupid
Keto generally looks dumb, but you’ll learn not to care soon enough.
It’s not uncommon for me to walk out of the supermarket with a full roast chicken that I am going to devour in public with my bare hands.
I’m indifferent to weird looks when I tell people a large portion of my diet consists of full fat cream mixed with protein powder, eggs and high fat.
Be prepared to be ostracized by the sheep who are happy to eat whatever fits the norm.

Yes Keto can suck to begin with, no doubt at all. But the results are definitely worth it when you get it under control.
